This is an introductory course aimed at students who wish to embark on a career or gain qualifications in the construction industry, with a particular emphasis on electrics. It is ideally suited for students who wish to aspire to the electrical apprenticeships in the construction industry.

The course aim is to provide students with a thorough grounding in construction and electrics. It is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills associated with electrics. The course enables students to develop practical skills in the areas of building construction and specifically electrics..

Course content may be revised for educational or organisational reasons.

Five passes in the Leaving Certificate/Applied or QQI Level 4 or equivalent qualification.

Other education and practical work experience may be taken into account for applicants aged between 16 and 18 who do not meet the above entry requirement but have passed five subjects in the Department of Education and Skills Junior Certificate Examination or equivalent qualification.

Mature and international students are most welcome to apply without formal qualifications.

Students aim to progress to an Electric Apprenticeship.

During the course, students engage in Work Experience and are introduced to employers in the sector.
